Understanding Our Racking Systems

Learn more about the different types of industrial racking and their applications.

01

Pallet Racking

Pallet racking is one of the most common types of industrial racking systems. It is designed to store palletised goods, making it ideal for warehouses and distribution centres.

The main components of pallet racking include upright frames, beams and wire decking. Pallets are placed on horizontal beams, allowing for easy loading and unloading using forklifts.

02

Mini / Light-Duty Racking

Mini racking or light-duty racking is a type of industrial racking system designed for storing relatively lightweight items and smaller loads.

These systems are typically used in settings where heavy-duty industrial racking is not necessary, such as retail stores, small warehouses, workshops and offices.

03

Cantilever Racking

Cantilever racking is used for storing long and bulky items such as lumber, pipes and steel bars.

It consists of upright columns with horizontal arms extending outward. These arms support the materials, while the absence of front columns allows for easy access.

04

Drive-In / Drive-Through Racking

Drive-in and drive-through racking systems are designed for high-density storage of similar goods.

Forklifts can enter the rack structure to load and unload pallets directly. Drive-in racking typically has one entry point, while drive-through racking has entry points on both sides for improved access.

05

Push-Back Racking

Push-back racking is a dynamic storage system where pallets are stored on wheeled carts or rollers.

When a new pallet is added, it pushes existing pallets backward, increasing storage density. It operates on a last-in, first-out (LIFO) basis and is suited to inventory that does not require strict first-in, first-out rotation.

06

Carton Flow Racking

Carton flow racking is a dynamic storage system used in warehouses and distribution centres to facilitate efficient picking and replenishment of cartons, boxes and totes.

It is designed to improve order-picking productivity, enhance inventory rotation and maximise available storage space.

07

Live Storage Racking

Also known as gravity flow racking or dynamic flow racking, live storage is designed for high-density storage and efficient order picking.

It relies on gravity to move products from the loading end to the picking end, supporting first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management. It is commonly used in distribution centres, warehouses and manufacturing facilities.

08

Mobile Racking

Mobile racking, also known as mobile shelving or high-density mobile storage, is designed to maximise space utilisation in environments where floor space is limited.

It eliminates the need for multiple fixed aisles by allowing shelving units to be arranged compactly and moved to provide access when required.

09

Shuttle / Mole Racking

Shuttle racking, also known as pallet shuttle racking, is an advanced high-density storage system used in warehouses and distribution centres.

It uses shuttle technology to optimise storage space, improve operational efficiency and streamline the storage and retrieval of palletised goods.

10

Rack-Clad Building

A rack-clad building, also known as a rack-supported building or warehouse, combines conventional warehouse storage with an integrated racking system.

The racking system stores products and also serves as structural support for the building itself. This design maximises storage capacity, optimises space utilisation and improves operational efficiency.

Material Handling

We Also Provide Conveyor Systems

Streamline material handling and packaging with conveyor systems designed around your operational requirements.

At Ryco Racking, we understand that efficient material handling is the backbone of many industries. That's why we offer a comprehensive range of conveyor systems designed to facilitate the smooth movement of goods from one point to another.

These conveyors play an important role in material handling and packaging, enhancing productivity and reducing manual labour.

The choice of conveyor type is tailored to your specific business needs to ensure efficient performance.

Gravity Feed Conveyors

Perfect for moving items along a gentle slope. Gravity feed conveyors use the force of gravity to transport goods, making them energy-efficient and cost-effective.

Slider Bed Belt Conveyors

Ideal for transporting a wide range of materials. These conveyors feature a smooth, flat surface that reduces friction and enables the seamless movement of items.

Powered Conveyors

When automation and speed are essential, powered conveyors provide motor-driven movement. They can handle heavy loads and be customised to suit your workflow.

Incline Conveyors

Designed for applications that require elevation changes. Incline conveyors move materials up steep inclines while maintaining product integrity.

Truck Loader Conveyors

Efficiently load and unload trucks with conveyor systems designed for logistics and distribution centres. They improve loading operations and reduce manual labour.

90-Degree Bends

Designed to guide materials smoothly around corners within a conveyor system, reducing the risk of jamming or product damage.

Our team will work closely with you to assess your material-handling requirements and recommend a suitable conveyor system for your business. Whether you're looking to increase throughput, reduce labour costs or enhance safety, our solutions are tailored to your needs.
